After a Sold-Out Show Last Year, the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra Returns to the Stage

Jazz extraordinaire Maynard Ferguson came to prominence as an exciting high note soloist in Stan Kenton's orchestra before forming his own big band and recording almost 50 albums. The Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra is returning to the Rialto Theater with a tribute to Maynard Ferguson on Friday, May 10th at 7:30 pm!

The CJRO will perform hits from his long career such as; "The Theme From Rocky," and "Hey Jude." Performing in the Ferguson role will be trumpeter, Ferguson alumnus, and Colorado native, Pete Olstad. Olstad has toured and performed with Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Blood, Sweat and Tears; Mel Torme, Brian Setzer, Tom Jones and Latin pop star Luis Miguel.

CJRO Director Art Bouton, Professor of Saxophone at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, founded CJRO with the mission to perform classic big band and modern large ensemble jazz with Colorado's finest musicians. Amateur trumpet players are encouraged to bring their instruments and join in on the final choruses of "Hey Jude" to close the show.

Tickets start at $26 and may be purchased at or by calling 970-962-2120. The CJRO sold-out at the Rialto last year, so get your tickets early for this exciting tribute!
