Follow an Unlikely Duo Across the Midwest During The Voice of the Prairie
What happens when a naive farmer meets a profit-seeking scammer during the rise of commercial radio? Follow the life experiences of David Quinn as he captivates rural radio listeners with his heart-rending stories during The Voice of the Prairie. See it live onstage this Thursday, February 14th beginning at 7:30 p.m.
In The Voice of the Prairie, David Quinn and Leon Schwab set out across the prairie during the early days of radio, telling stories and selling radio sets. David is riffing about a magic journey he took in the 1890s with Frankie the Blind Girl. Through the new medium of radio, he finds himself reunited with Frances, a blind school-teacher — and a new adventure ensues.
The show features a cast of Colorado University’s Theatre and Dance Department's talented young performers, all directed by Zachary Heygood. In Acting Studio performances, audiences experience a variety of experimental works in an intimate black box theatre.
The Voice of the Prairie is authored by John Olive. He is an award-winning playwright and the author of countless productions, including Minnesota Moon, Clara's Play, Standing On My Knees, The Voice of the Prairie, Careless Love, Killers, The Summer Moon, Evelyn and the Polka King, God Fire, Into the Moonlight Valley, and many others.
