Experience the beauty of the holiday season while walking down Washington Avenue, candle in hand, singing holiday carols. Sound like a perfect way to welcome the holidays? If so, then head to Golden’s hometown Candlelight Walk, which offers an authentic way to open the season of lights, on Friday, November 30th!
Stroll through the History Museum on Candlelight Walk night, take a selfie in our Epic Events exhibit or sit back and relax while listening to cheery holiday music. Visit the History Park, where you can try a roasted chestnut. Explore the inside of the Pearce/Helps Cabin, warm up at the wood stove, watch live blacksmithing, and enjoy music and singing. It’s all yours to experience during Candlelight Walk 2018 at Golden History Museum and Park!
Golden History Museum is a warm, welcoming, and vibrant public space for uncovering and sharing our past. With the vision of “always something new to discover,” the renovated Golden History Museum brings the behind-the-scenes practices of object discovery and preservation to the front of the house.
The History Park is home to many of the original buildings from the old Pearce Ranch in Golden Gate Canyon. The ranch was one of the largest in the area by 1912. Stroll through this park and imagine yourself growing potatoes or raising chickens as part of a homesteading family. Peek through the windows of real 1800s cabins and see other buildings from the ranch like the barn, chicken coop and two-seat outhouse.
Candlelight Walk is free and open to all. No registration needed, but donations for park and museum programming are appreciated. All patrons are asked to gather at Foothills Art Center at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30th.
