King Charles III Is Smart, Savvy, and Definitely a Must-See—Do Not Miss It

Since 1958, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival has delighted audiences with professional theatre on the CU Boulder campus. With hundreds of concerts, plays, recitals and more on our stages each year, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Complete your Colorado summer with this history play, King Charles III, in the elegant University Theatre on Friday, August 9th at 7:30 p.m. In "King Charles III," playwright Mike Bartlett uses Shakespearean verse to envision a near future where personal privacy, public betrayals, and a threat to free press to collide in the days following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Drawing on the style and structure of a Shakespearean history play, it explores the people beneath the crowns, the unwritten rules of British democracy, and the conscience of the Royal Family.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see the royal family reimagined in the regional premiere of the Critic’s Circle Award-winner and Olivier Award-winner for Best New Play, as well as Tony nominee for Best New Play.
